I'm just going to just say some random stuff.

What if I had lots of the same clothes and wore them everyday. You know like, how cartoon characters always wear the same pair of clothes everyday.

I'm bored.

So for my birthday this year I just want money. I just want to save my money in case I need it. I don't really want anything now.

This year I don't want to go trick-or-treating. I usually get fatter around Halloween because I eat a lot of candy and I have a stomach ache all month. I can't even eat most of the candy because I have braces. I'm to old for Halloween anyway.

I'm tired

I'm going to bed.

Mother's day

For Mother's Day I made Mom cornmeal muffins, peanut butter cookies, creme caramel and chocolate pudding, because mom likes to eat dessert and mom is awesome.

I love mom because she cooks and pays for a lot of stuff and she's a lot like me so she understands me (which can sometimes be annoying too). Mom's not crazy like some other mom's are. She lets me eat what I want and lets me horseback ride. I can do whatever sport I want. So far I've done ballet, jazz, gymnastics, swimming, fencing and horseback riding. She also let's me be home schooled. She hasn't made us move houses from the one I was born in (I was born at home, not a hospital) and we have a cottage. She let's me have rats and cats and dogs (even though one's a demon and he's hard to like). I also have the master bedroom and most everything I want. I don't want a lot of stuff, or the newest toys or fashionable clothes, I really don't care what I wear as those that know me can probably tell. I like comfort, fashionable is not comfortable. I don't want any trade-able stuff either. I could never give anything away therefor I could never trade. I also have braces and the best orthodontist ever, he might also be the most expensive. My parents love me and I love them too. I'm happy in general, but spring allergies suck!

I don't think of myself as "spoiled', but am I?

Swollen Eyes and Stuffed up Nose

In the morning I got another rat from a Sheridan student that was moving. His name is Calvin. The other boys just took him in like they knew him forever. Maybe he's Neil's brother. We also got Neil from a Sheridan student and he had a brother that they gave away to someone else. They are about the same size so it could be possible. Calvin seems happy with his new family and slept in the hammock cuddling the others. He must have been lonely by himself. We picked him up in the Burger King parking lot just like Neil.
Lee, Parson, Neil and Calvin
Last night I was crying because I didn't feel well. When I woke up my eyes were all swollen. Mom told me to put tea bags on my eyes. I made a pot of tea, let the bags cool a bit, then put them on my eyes for 20 minutes. It actually worked, my eyes are less swollen now.

I just learned about the Neti pot. It's so gross and awesome. My allergies are really bad right now and I've made my nose raw from blowing it so much. My mom showed me a Youtube video of it then we picked one up when we went shopping. The package says it's inexpensive but it's a cheap plastic pot that cost us 20 bucks. It actually works but if you're not careful you can get snot all over your face and shirt. I think I tasted some.

To the Arctic

I haven't blogged for so long because I haven't had any writing inspiration. We did go up to the cottage and I planted some pepper and tomato seeds in Topsy Turvy Planters. I also went to the Salvation Army. Added to my collection of books by Ann M. Martin and bought a bunch of games including Monopoly Express, which turns out to be a very good dice game. It's well designed, portable and only takes bout 10 minutes to play. It's the same idea as real Monopoly but it's different.

Charles Owen GR8 HelmetLast week I bought a new Charles Owen riding helmet at the spring GREENHAWK Warehouse Sale. It's a show helmet so it's soft and velvety. Unfortunately they stopped making helmets with the chin cup, which I really liked. The helmet I was using before had one but it wasn't mine. Apparently I have a very small head and it was hard to find a helmet in my 6 7/8" size. I also bought a cheap pair of riding gloves to protect my hands from getting rope burn from the reins. I didn't buy any riding boots because my rain boots are fine. Replacing my old stuff stresses me and I don't like to do it unless absolutely necessary. My parents bought a new leather couch which stressed me out, the old one was fine (for me, admittedly the new one is much higher and not saggy like the old one). The new one is smaller and since the leather is softer, less durable I think, and why leather? The dogs have already put dents in it because they frequently sleep on the couch. We also got new arm chairs but they look like old lady chairs and aren't as wide as the old one. I don't think they match either. They do recline though, which is nice. Vegan people aren't suppose to have a leather couch! Parents are so uncooperative. Also the riding boots were leather at the sale. I try to be environmentally friendly and good to animals but it' impossible to be 100% of the time. Something always comes up. Try buying food not packaged in plastic! I watched a documentary called Plastic Planet yesterday too.

Yesterday I went to the Ontario Science Center with Nana and Grandad. We went to see the movie To the Arctic in the SHOPPERS DRUG MART OMNIMAX Theatre. As a coincidence I went to Shopper's before we left to buy Arius. The movie surrounds you and it makes you feel like you are really in the Arctic (minus the temperature). It's kind of like those movie rides but doesn't make you quite as nauseous. It was about how global warming is affecting the animals in the Arctic. Their struggle to find food and shelter. They are forced to keep moving because all the ice sheets melt. There are not a lot of ice sheets in the middle of the ocean to fish off anymore, making it hard for them to hunt seal, their main source of food. Lots end up scavenging for small things and males will even resort to eating cubs. Polar bears have to now swim long distances to find a place to 'land'. Walrus's eat crabs and have to swim far into the ocean to get food and can't go as often due to the long swim. They also have to leave their young longer when they go on hunts. They used to be able to stay on large ice chunks in the oceans where they could easily just dive in and find food. It was sad but I was already aware of the situation and still feel just as helpless. The theatre was really impressive in making the soundings feel very realistic. My Nana has a membership to the Science Centre so she gets a good discount on the theatre tickets. Before the movie started they explained how the theatre worked which was also quite interesting and they have a very good sound system.

After that we went to a Japanese restaurant for lunch. I had vegetarian sushi and Nana and Grandad had tempura. We had the same thing but from a different restaurant for dinner.

Fort York

Fort York Toronto
On Tuesday me, my sister and Grandpa went to Fort York on a home-school field trip, so there were planned activities and other kids.

The first workshop (workshops may not be in the correct order) was the Officer's Kitchen. We made Jumbles, British cookies made with butter, eggs and flour, rolled in sugar and spice. Then we ate them. They we good.

Workshop two was Drills. We marched around with wooden guns and pretended to shoot stuff. We also had to pretend to reload after every shot because the guns in 1812 only took one shot at a time. That must have been really annoying.

In workshop three we learned to do a dance that people did during the war. I can't remember what it was called but I think it sounded like a guys name.

For workshop four we saw a re-enactment of the Battle of York with little paper people. The Americans won the battle. After the British and Canadian soldiers started to retreat, the Americans went on the land to chase after them. While leaving, the British and Canadians blew up their gun powder magazine and in the process killed most of the Americans.  The survivors had to retreat and go home. A year later they returned with more soldiers but the British and Canadian people had rebuilt the fort. The fort was big and scary, and scared them away.

Workshop Five was Archaeology, we looked at old stuff and tried to guess what it was. They had items like toys, bowls and lamps.

Workshop six was Barracks Lore.

Seven was games of the soldiers children. We played Tag.

The last workshop was called Lifestyle and they talked about what soldiers did back then.

Dinner was based on an authentic soldier's meal in 1815. Beef stew, curried rice, carrots, bread and apple juice (substituted for rum ration). I had a vegetarian stew with one other boy. Later we had hot chocolate but couldn't have a campfire because it was raining. Some girls started singing, one kid brought a guitar. Then we slept in the bunk beds in the barracks. In the morning they fed us a breakfast of oatmeal, Shreddies, Rice Krispies and orange juice. (This is not an authentic meal. A soldier's breakfast consisted of peas porridge, cold salt beef, tea and bread.)

The most interesting thing I learned was that soldiers could bring their whole families but had to share a single bed. Most fighting didn't happen at the fort. It happened at the exhibition site. I slept at the fort and it didn't feel haunted. There is a police horse barn near the fort that really stunk of poop.

Overall the trip was interesting and educational but it really stunk and I didn't get any sleep because of noisy kids, uncomfortable beds and a wintery chill. I would definitely recommend the overnight program, especially for the boys.

Boring

Life has been pretty boring lately but Me, Mom, Dad, Sister, Aunt Vic, (Uncle)Will, Charlotte and Noah went to the cottage on Friday and came back Sunday. We mostly just played in the backyard. We have a trampoline, a small badminton/volleyball net, a tire swing, a yellow swing and a campfire in the backyard.

I'll blog more later.
